Great Plains Human Resource Management Association (GPHRMA) is holding an interview contest for any Mid-Plains Community College students called “Job or No Job.”  The contest will be administered through multiple rounds in order to simulate the real-life activities students will experience when applying for and interviewing for a job.  Students will enter the contest by “applying” for a fictitious job by submitting their resume and cover letter electronically to the GPHRMA Chapter email address.  The job description was written generically so that students will be able to apply their individual skills and course of study to the position.

To enter the interview contest, students must:

    • Develop a resume of real-life experiences (education, work, activities, etc.) that demonstrates qualifications for the position.
    • Write an accompanying cover letter for your resume.
    • Submit resume and cover letter by email to gphrma@gmail.com by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016.

The contest will be administered in multiple rounds.  After students have entered the contest, the first round will consist of having resumes screened by a Human Resource Professional.  All students will receive a critique on their resume.  The top candidates will advance to the second round of the contest, which is a phone interview conducted by a Human Resource Professional .  After the phone interview is conducted, the top students will advance to the third round of the contest, an on-campus interview.  The interview will be held on the selected students’ campus and will be conducted by a Human Resource Professional. After the on-campus interviews, the top three students will advance to the final round of the contest, an interview at a local business.  Students will interview with and receive feedback from a professional in their field.

In addition to the real-life simulation of the application and interview process, students will receive prizes as they advance to each round of the contest!  Prizes vary based on the round of the contest and are shown:

    • Application Round: Critique of Resume
    • Phone Interview Round: Gift Card to local establishment
    • On-Campus Interview Round: Interview Success Packet, professional head-shot for use on student’s  social media profile
    • Final Round: 3 students will interview with an Industry Professional, receive a $200 Scholarship and get a press release in the local newspaper!

In order to apply, please review the position opening description below and follow the application instructions!
